Wedding Dress with Pleated Bustier and Big Bow and Lace Train
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 9:18 am CET
The first wedding dress I made :) A pleated bustier top with bow details on the empire line and big crystal on the bust part. I combined it with circular duchess satin skirt which was cover by soft broken whit bridal tulle to give more subtle feeling. A big bow on the back skirt with lace tail was added to give details at the back, together with the lacing opening.
Purple Flower Lace Dress (Left Side)
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 8:48 am CET
A custom made dress for my cousin, Mrs. Irawati Santosa for attending her sister's wedding in Melbourne. I made a bustier with lace, beadings and pleat at the waist, combined with gathered chiffon skirt to give volume for my petite cousin. Moreover, I gave some 3d flower details to enhance the dress more.
Beach Skirt
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 8:03 am CET
This is my last project of 2011 - a skirt made at the very last minute prior to a Christmassy beach holiday (well, I'm in Australia - beach holidays at Christmas are the norm). It seems crazy given that I've made loads of dresses and pants that fit, but I've always had trouble making skirts that fit. Usually I make them too big... but this time around I think I finally nailed the sizing woohoo! Anyway, the pattern I used was Vogue 1174 in a size 14, evidently with the bodice left off (I seriously don't think I could carry off this kind of bodice!). I think it works well - I just added a straight band for the waist band. I also sewed the pleats down a little but this was probably a mistake as it causes some pulling on the side pockets. This skirt is also blogged here:http://upsewlate.blogspot.com/2012/01/last-project-for-2011.html
Little Black Dress: The internet one
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 8:01 am CET
I see this design everywhere on the internet...especially tumblr. It's a sweetheart neckline with a puffy skirt. This was super easy to make; just a simple bustier sewed onto half of a circle skirt pattern with tulle pleated on top. I wore it to my school's winterball and actually had a crowd form when a girl found out I made it. Gotta say it came out quite nicely, but the photo of it on the mannequin is so-so. No good photos of it on me at the actual dance :( I also don't know why the two photos of me actually wearing it are warped...
BurdaStyle Girl's Floral Dress
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 7:52 am CET
This is another version of BurdaStyle pattern # 148 from issue 06-2010 - again a lengthened size 110 but this time using a light cotton floral voile + fully lined in pale pink cotton voile. As I suppose you'd expect, the choice of fabric has made this into quite a different little dress - this one is soft and breezy and perhaps more comfortable than my earlier heavy cotton / linen version. Having made this unlined and lined, I have to say the lined version was easier - much quicker than bias bound neck and arm holes! Since both the outer and lining fabrics with so thin I only applied the pleats on the neckline once the dress was lined - my pleats go through both layers at once. And as I was leaving out the angled vertical trim, for a bit of added interest I handstitched some daisy trim on the centre front neckline. If I were to make any changes to this pattern it would be to add some side pockets. Blogged "here":http://upsewlate.blogspot.com/2012/01/another-little-dress.html
BurdaStyle Girl's Dress in Aqua
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 7:41 am CET
This dress was made using pattern 148 from issue 6/2010 of BurdaStyle in a size 110cm height significantly lengthened as requested by my daughter. It's a simple little pattern so I didn't use the instructions... as I was making this late at night and was concerned it might be a bit too fitted I added a zip in one of the side seams. Normally the dress would just have a small opening in the centre back with a button or press stud at the top. My daughter is kind of obsessed with dresses these days and she's very happy with this one - for her, the pink trim is what makes it work.
Easy Sew Fingerless Gloves
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 7:24 am CET
A friend of mine sent a pair of over-the-knee stockings, and asked me use them to make a pair of fingerless gloves. The picture she sent of her vision showed a thumb piece (as opposed to a thumb hole), so I sat down to figure out how to go about creating these gloves. As it turns out, it's pretty darned easy. Instructions are also available on my blog: http://www.ScreamingMimiSewingRoom.blogspot.com
Pin*Cushions recycling plastic bottle cap
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 7:20 am CET
I love to drink plastic bottle drink. But it's not eco-friendly.. I cam up an idea with making pin cushion using bottle cap. From then I have made them everyday, total 50. I almost sold them craft market and consignment shops. They're left I have. It's easy to make, you can use needle at only 1 step, or you can make it without needle and thread. Vending machine,I'll be counting on you.

BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 7:05 am CET
Custom made for my cousin, Miss Myra Adhelina for her sister's wedding party in Melbourne. Inspired by her calm, sweet character, I was thinking to made something sweet yet still outstanding for her to wear. I am using Rose Bridal Netting, Rose Italian Satin, Twilight Lace and do some beadworks on the lace.
Starry Sky Shift Dress with Sleeve Ties
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 6:54 am CET
A mini dress from my favorite pattern, Simplicity's Built by Wendy 3835 (now out of print but may be found on eBay or such places). Made in dotted cotton voile print that reminds me of the night sky. The sleeve and sleeve ties in the pattern were way too long so I had to redraft the pattern to shorten them. I added a slouchy pocket that I drafted myself. Basically I took the existing pocket pattern, cut the top part and added seam allowance to create the pocket edge. Then I redrafted the bottom/rest of the pocket so it would be wider at the opening edge. This wider edge was gathered and sewn into the previously mentioned top part and then placed on the dress (like a patch pocket).
Denim Shift Dress with Heart Pocket
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 6:46 am CET
Pullover denim mini dress with heart patch pocket. It's made from a hybrid of 2 patterns: New Look 6022 (see my "Cherry Blossom blouse":http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/cherry-blossom-blouse in this pattern) for the top half and Built by Wendy 3835 for the bottom half. The fabric is relatively thin for denim and very comfortable. I topstitched most seams with traditional gold denim thread. The pocket was something I added later b/c I thought it was a little too plain. (You can see in the photo where I'm modeling it there's no pocket yet!)
Goofy panda tunic
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 4:48 am CET
My daughter picked the fabric and the pattern -- pandas!! It is New Look 6077 tunic with pleats under yoke and on pockets. I learned a lot about fitting by trying to make this look decent on her!
I Made a Tee Shirt
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 4:28 am CET
I used ichigogirl's "Cowl dress/Cowl top" pattern. I made it a couple inches wider, and then when it was still too small, I inserted side panels. I also added sleeves, because I'm big on adding sleeves to things.

Hobbit Cape
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 2:34 am CET
When I saw this cape on Burda 10/2011 cover I knew this was the cape i was waiting for... I wanted a khaki cape for quite some time, just hadn't found the perfect pattern yet. My boyfriend named it, because when he saw me making it the colour could only make him think of Lord of The rings and also because I am not that tall :P
Bold Meets Beautiful StyleX
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 2:26 am CET
In this design I tried to combine my style which is very earthy and natural with a twist. I paired a leather vest that gives this design its 'rocker' theme. It's when two worlds collide. I vision this being made out of natural fibers; silk jersey harem pant with leather.
The Go Your Own Way Dress
BurdaStyle Projects 28 Jan 2012, 1:52 am CET
With a couple of metres of georgette, Vogue pattern 1435 (American Designer Original) and some other fancy notions this dress was built to handle the hot weather we're having here in Melbourne and looks lovely swanning about the Royal Botanical gardens too. You can see more pics on my Blog and my Sew Weekly contributor post here.
